What to do once you’re engaged!
Hey there, and welcome to the blog. Today we’re going to be diving into what the hell do you do once you’re engaged! Lately I’ve been talking to a lot of newly engaged folks and everyone is super freakin overwhelmed with this whole damn process. Don’t get me wrong, I’m there too, but I want you to think about it in a way that is exciting, and less stressful. Lets dive on in!
There are no exact number of steps, or a correct or incorrect way to plan your day. I will say the number one thing is, ENJOY THE MOMENT. Getting engaged is such an exciting time and you should just bask in that area for a little while. If you’re only planning on doing this once ( I would think so ) take the time to fully enjoy that freshly engaged feeling. Stare at your hand and get all giddy again, replay the moment over and over while tears flood your eyes, and soak up EVERY congratulations!
Okay so you’ve enjoyed the moment, now what the hell do you do?
Here’s a little list of next steps that you can take to prepare for your day.
-
The most important thing to remember is that this day is about the TWO of you. What kind of day do you both envision? How big or small do you want to go? Do we want to elope!? This is the time for you two to communicate probably more than you ever have before! Ask yourselves…what do WE want?

Money. The one subject everyone LOVES talking about. I know, I know..false. Talking about creating a budget for your day is HIGHLY important. There are many factors that need to be thought about like a venue (if using one), flowers, photographer, dress, suit, invitations, etc. You get the picture. Depending on your goals for after your wedding too you might choose to allocate bigger budgets to certain items if looking to save for a home or other goals! Make sure to look past your day and see what that looks like as well finance wise. No one wants to be done with their day and be like frick. Now what?

Now we start diving into the exciting things! When do you want to get married?! Depending on where you live or where you’re planning on traveling to, make sure you do lots of research on the seasons! If you’re getting married in a known rainy climate make sure you have a plan B or even C. What flowers are in season, what kind of dress are you looking to have, whats the suit situation looking like? Think of all your elements during your date / season to ensure everything will work nicely!

When & where kind of go hand in hand when planning your day. This will really solidify the type of day you’re looking to have. If going traditional, what venues are you looking at? If you’re going more of the intimate wedding route, are you doing a backyard, brewery, rent out your favorite restaurant, maybe having your ceremony in a cool spot like a museum or garden. The possibilities are endless! If eloping, where would you like to travel to? What are some activities that you’d like to experience together? Are there any places on your bucket list that you’d like to cross off?

This part can be a little tough, but once again another piece that is just as important as the rest. Are you the type of couple that wants a PARTY and all friends & family there? Are you the type of couple who are very selective of who they let into their circle and personal moments in life. Or you could totally be that couple thats like SEE YA THIS IS FOR US! The beauty of it all, is its up to you!
