ELOPEMENT
Dawn & Matt
THE STORY
Where do I even begin with these two? I met Dawn a few years ago through my husband, and when the time came for her and Matt to get married she was hell bent on having me be her photographer. I was, and am still am absolutely honored.
Their original plan was to get married in Pennsylvania and as the days kept passing, Dawn started to have second thoughts on doing the whole ordeal. Not that she didn’t want to marry Matt, but putting on the whole production of a traditional wedding.
She called me one day and said to me, “Amiee, I just don’t know if we’re meant to go about the whole entire day. It just doesn’t feel right, it doesn’t feel like us.” After a few minutes of talking I asked her, “Dawn, do you think you and Matt would like to elope? If you did, where would you like to do it?”
She told me she hadn’t thought about it before but the idea sounded right up their alley. Dawn took I think one whole day and got back to me immediately, giving me the green light to start planning.
While on a road trip that spring, my husband and I visited Moab, UT and absolutely loved it. Her and Matt always wanted to visit out here so we started planning their elopement at Dead Horse Point State Park. We got all of the necessary permitting and got to work!
As we got closer and started trying to figure out her florals, I offered her the company that I did my florals through and we built a custom bouquet for her the morning of her wedding. It was so much fun to watch her build and I even got to help too!
I started the day out with detail photographs, and you cannot miss her gorgeous black wedding dress that she altered herself AND made this cool ass cape for! They each wrote private vows while getting ready which added another special touch to the day.
After getting ready, we all gathered up and drove from their sick BnB to Dead Horse Point for their ceremony. The weather was absolutely PERFECT. There was such a great energy in the air from these two, and Matt hadn’t seen Dawn yet so I think that was a part of the hype as well!
Their ceremony was extremely heartfelt, and afterwards we took the time to wander for some amazing portraits. I’ll let those speak for themselves. After our time in Moab we ended the night with some drinks and delicious BBQ and some dancing.
This elopement and the experience I had with Dawn and Matt was nothing short of incredible. Looking back at these images I am super proud of them, as well as stoked at how amazing these two looked in front of the camera. Thank you for choosing me to be such a huge part of your day. I’m forever grateful to be your photographer.
